Welcome to Bear Hugs from Mom
The purpose of Bear Hugs from Mom is to provide individual care packages and moral support for an entire platoon throughout their 12-15 month deployment. As a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, Bear Hugs from Mom raises money through donations and fundraisers. These donations are used to provide the soldiers with items of comfort and memories of home; DVD’s, pillows, equipment, batteries. We try to send reminders of home and to provide necessities that budget cuts prevent the Army from providing. In the winter we send Heat Max hand warmers, which the Army considers a luxury. In the summer we send Misters, to cool the temperature. We also fostered a relationship with Project Boresnake to send gun cleaning supplies to the soldiers. Project Boresnake has since ceased operation as the Army has now included bore snakes in the supply inventory and can be ordered by NSN (National Stock Number). We have ongoing yearly projects to send reminders of home and to remember the Holidays. Bear Hugs from Mom also helps with their return to civilization. As of January 2012, this is my 6th platoon and we were involved with the welcome home ceremony for two by assisting the Unit Family Readiness Group (FRG). If you would like to contribute, please select the Make a Donation button (below-left), verified by PayPal Bear Hugs from Mom will administer and equitably disburse donations from the community for the benefit of soldiers and families of the 10th Mountain Division located at Fort Drum, New York.
